Meditation and Mindfulness

The children from 1P – 8P have been experiencing meditation and mindfulness sessions with Matias. They are learning to be aware of what surrounds them in the present moment. They are also discovering techniques to find their personal island of calm.

Monica is our psychmotricienne. She comes to school on a Monday morning and works with the children in physical, social and emotional education. This morning she was creating an imaginary road with the children, using a traffic light and different stop signs. The children had to regulate their speed and actions according to the signs. They had to wait for each other, keep a safe distance by staying in physical control. They had to regulate their emotions when they were going fast to be able to slow down at the next sign.

Winter Solstice

Thank you for coming to our Winter Solstice party and sharing the meal with us. This is a special moment every year when the entire La Découverte family comes together. We enjoyed preparing this event and learning the songs! We hope you all had a lovely time. We wish you very happy holidays.

Advent calendars

Every year the classes make advent calendars. Each child has a special date where their name is chosen and they can take a surprise from the advent calendar. The children learn about the calendar, the countdown to Christmas and practice counting up and down to 25 in French and English!

Of course, they are also extremely beautiful…

Hands on stories tea party

The children at the Wednesday morning Hands on stories extra have been visiting different countries in the world. This time their journey was to London and they had a traditional English tea party. They made pictures of London buses, themselves as the royal family and they made special tea infusions with different herbs and spices. It was delicious!

Mini-Escalade

On the afternoon of the Escalade race, several families met up in the Perle du Lac park for a mini escalade race organised by Johanna and Zohra with the parent’s association.

The 3 year olds, 1P and 2P had races of differing lengths around the park. The parents accompanied them and they all managed to finish their race! They were rewarded with fruit, juice and chocolate marmites to break together.

All about mushrooms!

The three year old class have been exploring the forest and the multitude of mushrooms in the forest. They have smelled them, observed them, sketched them and painted them. They have pickled the mushrooms, read books about mushrooms and invented their own names for the mushrooms. I will let the pictures tell the story…
